The Spirit of Grace
Do you offend the Spirit of Grace? I think this is a question each one of us must ask ourselves. As we all must stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account of all we have done, therefore, I think it is a good thing to consider what we do daily while here on earth.
First of all, who is the Spirit of Grace? What is the Spirit of Grace? Is this Spirit the same Spirit as the Holy Spirit?
I found this scripture in Hebrews 10:23-39, specifically in verse 29. It says, "How much more severe punishment do you think he will receive who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the Covenant by which he was sanctified and has insulted the Spirit of Grace."
I must say this---it is a mouthful to consider. I know one thing for sure-- whoever this Spirit is, I would not want to insult Him. We know this according to the scripture--in so doing, we trample underfoot the Son of God and regard the blood of the Covenant as unclean. This is something you do not want to be doing.
What is it we could possibly do that would place us in such a bad situation with God? The answer lies in Hebrews 10:23-27: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together..." (Get in a good church each week!!!) "...as is the habit of some, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. For if we go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and the fury of the fire, which will consume the adversaries."
For if we go on sinning after we receive the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for our sins...God is calling a people in these last days to "come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing." (2 Cor.6:17)
God has been calling our congregation to these simple truths: separation, sanctification and commitment. I do not care where you park your flesh on Sunday mornings, for that hour we have all learned to call church. This applies to us ALL. We do not GO to church. WE are the CHURCH. The church of the living God is not an organization. It is a living organism. Regardless of your spiritual doctrinalization or affiliation, we must ALL stand before God and give an account for the things we have done.
This is a call to sanctification, purity and holiness.
Can you be perfect? You say, no. I say---for how long!! Many say no one is perfect. I say---for how long? See, it is all an attitude of one's heart. Are you trying to be the best you can be? Or do we settle for so much less than what God has ordained for us?
What have you settled for? Are you satisfied with the life you are now living? Only you can answer these personal questions.
What is your relationship with the Lord? Are you attending a church where you are being fed the Word of God? Can you be perfect for one minute? Well then, how about 10 minutes? So, who has taught you that you cannot be perfect? I ask again---for how long? It is the attitude of a man's heart. Are you trying to be the best you can be? Are you controlling your situations or are they controlling you?
Do you offend the Spirit of Grace? Only you know this answer.
It is my responsibility as a minister of the gospel to reveal these truths to you. In the long run, it will be for your best interest. The decision is up to you in regard to how you live your life.
God loves you so much and has such an abundant life for you to live. It breaks my heart to see the people in the world getting all they can and canning all they get. It is always about me, myself and I.
I hope this little word helps you become all you can be for the Lord. He loves you so much. And oh, yes, please do not insult the Spirit of Grace!
